When it comes to value, ClimateCraft is committed to producing competitively priced, industrial strength air handling units specifically designed for healthcare, institutional and commercial applications, such as hospitals, universities, airport and office buildings. A ClimateCraft unit is the only choice for building owners who insist on reliability and low cost of ownership.

By combining innovative construction methods with quality components, ClimateCraft produces superior systems that provide exceptional performance under a wide variety of operating conditions. In fact, our air handlers comply with the high velocity hurricane zone requirements of Miami-Dade County and the Florida Building Code. ClimateCraft has also taken the lead in seismic construction and compliance satisfying requirements for seismic provision of the International Building Code.

From unique cabinet design to components selected for quiet, efficient operation, ClimateCraft provides high quality solutions for forward-thinking building owners.

Exclusive Roll-formed Panel Construction Sets ClimateCraft Apart from the Competition

The backbone of every ClimateCraft air handler is our exclusive roll-formed joint panel construction. Our innovative bolted standing seam cabinet construction method results in cabinets that are extremely strong, operationally efficient and easy to maintain.

Individual panels are roll-formed from a single piece of metal ranging from 6 to 24 inches wide, with double-thick edges for increased cabinet strength. Material options include heavy gauge G90 galvanized steel and weight saving textured aluminum coating options including powder-coated aluminum or steel, and galvanized pre-painted steel.

Inner liners are attached to the exterior layer of each panel through a high durometer EPDM sponge gasket that acts as a thermal break. This prevents the cabinet from sweating at panel joints, a feature previously available only in the most expensive custom-manufactured units. The combined shape of the gasket material and underlying metal provides a tight seal that actually improves as cabinet pressure increases, with cabinet leakage ranging from Class 4 to Class 6 depending on the type of insulation and liner specified for the job. Options include two, three and four-inch insulation, as well as solid and perforated liners from a number of different materials.

The roll-formed bulb at the edge of the panel joint protects the air seal gasket from weathering and UV exposure from the sun, greatly enhancing the life of the gasket. The high insulating value of the EPDM sponge panel gasket also provides added insulation at the joint for better operating efficiency.

Unit Doors Also Feature Complete Thermal Break

Full-size access doors, two inches thick with two inches of injected foam insulation, are standard on all ClimateCraft units. Door frames are constructed of extruded aluminum with a high durometer EPDM gasket between layers to create a thermal break. Door panel skins can be galvanized steel, stainless steel or aluminum to match the unit cabinet construction.

The door frames are the same size and shape along the gasket edges as the unit panels, making the door assemblies interchangeable with any panel of the same dimensions. High quality bulb gaskets, mechanically attached to the door eliminate air leakage. The shape along the panel sealing area of the door conforms to the shape of the wall panels, ensuring the same tight seal at the door frame as between panels.

Our heavy-duty handles are made from an extremely durable composite material and have roller-cam latch assemblies. The high-compression latch has a built-in padlock hasp and provides visual confirmation that the latch has been securely closed. Because it is fabricated from a composite material, there is no energy transfer from the interior of the unit to the exterior through the handle. Stainless steel door hinges are a minimum of 18 gauge stainless steel with a one-eighth inch hinge pin so doors don’t flex or sag.

Viewing windows are optional, and are hermetically sealed with reinforced wire on interior panes.

Integrated Thermal Break Eliminates Sweating at Joints

An air handler that sweats at panel joints or door seals creates a number of problems for building owners. On indoor units, pools of water that collect on the floor represent significant safety hazards for maintenance personnel who must be concerned with slipping on wet floors and electrocution as they work on units. Condensation also creates potential structural problems, because metal constantly exposed to moisture will corrode and significantly weaken over time.

In addition, there are IAQ concerns about standing water because it can become a breeding ground for mold and other organisms.

ClimateCraft’s integrated thermal break eliminates sweating at the joints. Our panels are completely self-contained with an inner and outer skin, choice of insulation material, and gasketing. Inner liners are attached to the exterior layer of each panel through a true thermal break that prevents sweating at panel joints.

Our unique panel construction has the added advantage of enabling customers to specify different materials for the inner and outer skins without the potential for corrosion that would normally exist when dissimilar metals come into contact with each other.

The entire cabinet has ClimateCraft’s thermal break construction including the unit base and floor, wall and roof panels, and access doors. The door frames are the same size and shape along the gasket edges as the unit panels, making the door assemblies interchangeable with any panel of the same dimensions.

ClimateCraft’s unique panel and door construction with its integrated thermal break eliminates the need to condition equipment rooms or purchase more expensive systems… a benefit every building owner appreciates!

Computer Integration Results in Increased Ability to Meet Individual Job Requirements

ClimatePro is ClimateCraft’s proprietary selection and design software that enables consulting engineers to quickly and easily select components, determine unit dimensions, lay out a unit, and generate drawings and specifications. The entire manufacturing process is integrated from the initial selection of components from a digital catalog to the generation of a bill of materials for the shop floor. In addition to reducing opportunities for error, computer integration significantly reduces labor and production expenses, helping control the cost to our customers.

Manufacturing Flexibility Enables ClimateCraft to Meet Extraordinary Customer Requirements

ClimateCraft has the manufacturing flexibility to meet special challenges. ACCESS™ is ClimateCraft’s option for customers who need to replace an aging air handler installed in small space with very limited accessibility.

Air handling units manufactured with ACCESS™ are custom-engineered, factory-fabricated, field-assembled and backed by the ClimateCraft guarantee…ideal for retrofit applications where access to the mechanical room is limited.

Components ship to the job site dissembled on individual pallets that are specifically designed to be easily transported into small spaces and moved by pallet jacks through narrow corridors and around tight corners.

The end result is a high quality unit that is usually less expensive than a field-engineered and erected replacement system.

Wall and roof panels are roll-formed from a single piece of metal during ClimateCraft’s computer-integrated manufacturing process.

ClimateCraft’s unique roll-formed panel construction has a full thermal break and is significantly stronger than framed units that are welded. Our high-strength construction is equivalent to 10 gauge and seals tightly against high pressure. Sturdy 5/16 inch stainless steel bolts are used to join panels instead of insubstantial sheet metal screws.

Special safeguards to ensure long-term customer satisfaction are taken during the manufacturing of units. Unit bases are welded from carbon steel for a sturdy, durable assembly that isolates vibration from the building as the system operates. Bolts have built-in lock washers, used on each bolt to prevent them from backing out during shipping, start-up and operation.

An aluminum roof rail ties individual panels together and supports the roof even when panels are removed for maintenance. Panels are joined by rugged, stainless steel fasteners instead of sheet metal screws that corrode and weaken unit cabinets. The stainless steel fasteners are accessible from the outside of ClimateCraft units, making panels easy to remove as a single piece assembly. There is no need to remove the roof, disassemble a panel or cut out internally-welded structural members to service large components!

ClimateCraft’s entire manufacturing process is integrated, from initial design to the factory floor. Our skilled and experienced engineers have the expertise to solve many HVAC challenges.

Every component in a ClimateCraft unit is selected for years of reliable service. Fans are picked for optimal sound power levels, and coils are ARI-certified for performance. Sloped drain pans eliminate standing water inside the unit, and storm louvers can be installed on intake air openings. AMCA-certified low-leak dampers are standard.
