May 29, 2010 - ClimateCraft Granted First OSHPD Special Seismic Certification Pre-Approval For Custom Air Handling Units

ClimateCraft is pleased to announce that the company’s CAH line of custom air handlers has been added to the “Facilities Development Division (FDD) List of Equipment/Components with OSHPD Special Seismic Certification Pre-Approval (OSP).”

The FDD list is administered by the California Office of Statewide Health Planning and Development (OSHPD). An OSP pre-approval allows owners, engineers, and contractors of health care facilities in California to specify, purchase, and install ClimateCraft CAH custom air handlers in compliance with the seismic requirements of the California Building Code (CBC) and be accepted by OSHPD during its statutory design review and inspection of construction projects.

ClimateCraft, Inc. is the first and only manufacturer to have custom central station air handling units on this list. This approval provides healthcare facility owners with the peace of mind that their air handling equipment will not delay the approval and opening of their facility.

The special seismic certification number is OSP-0063-10 and can be viewed here.

This OSP supplements ClimateCraft, Inc.’s current listing by Seismic Source Company, an ICC Accredited Listing Agent, for compliance to the seismic requirements of the International Building Code (IBC) versions 2000, 2003, 2006 & 2009. These code requirements have been adopted by all 50 states in the U.S. This powerful combination of qualifications gives architects, engineers, and owners confidence at the very start of the design process that their project will comply with critical IBC, CBC, and OSHPD seismic requirements for any project in the U.S.

January 21, 2009 - ClimateCraft and Huntair settle fan array lawsuit. All claims are dismissed.

ClimateCraft is delighted that the litigation brought by Huntair has been settled, and in a manner that does not impact or alter the promotion and sale of the ClimateCraft FanMatrix™, fan array system. The settlement agreement terms are confidential, but the following press statement was released.

“ClimateCraft, Inc. and Huntair, Inc. have settled the pending litigation and entered into an agreement under which ClimateCraft will license Huntair’s existing patents related to FANWALL®. ClimateCraft’s fan array products allow for fans to be turned off for safety, repair and maintenance purposes. ClimateCraft’s fan array products are not designed to turn individual fans on and off for the purpose of improving fan array efficiency, and ClimateCraft does not endorse turning individual fans on and off for the purpose of improving fan array efficiency. Any statement to the contrary is not supported by ClimateCraft. All other terms are confidential.”

What does this mean to a ClimateCraft customer considering the benefits of the ClimateCraft FanMatrix™ system.

    1. The litigation has been settled and ClimateCraft may pursue business with its FanMatrix™ system without intimidations or interference.

    2. The settlement does not minimize the differences and benefits that make the ClimateCraft FanMatrix™ the superior choice when considering the advantages of fan array technology. Basic ClimateCraft FanMatrix™ differences/advantages include:

    3. a. The use of spring isolation for each individual fan, including seismic restraints.

      b. Welded structural steel fan assemblies designed to eliminate destructive resonant frequencies that limit motor life. ClimateCraft’s is so confident in this design that it offers an industry leading 5 year rotating parts (fan/motor) warranty, as standard

      c. The ability to use fewer, larger, more efficient fans and motors. The ClimateCraft philosophy is to use the optimum number of fans that meets owner space, service, redundancy and performance goals and then to use no more, as at that point more fans is simply that, more, with lower motor efficiencies and higher component quantities. Recommended ClimateCraft selections provide higher initial motor efficiencies (as seen in a NEMA motor efficiency chart), a contributing reason to ClimateCraft’s stance not to cycle individual fans within an array.
ClimateCraft is confident that its FanMatrix™ design is the best of the available fan array products on the market, and with the litigation settled, we look forward to helping our customers benefit from this superior design.
